Serves as the Commission’s operational and governance anchor, ensuring decisions, documentation, and processes align with city code and procedural standards while allowing strategic and creative work to move forward efficiently. By pairing deep institutional knowledge with real‑world operational experience, this role protects transparency, accountability, and momentum across all Commission efforts.
Hope Mader, Vice Chair, Creative & Community Stewardship
Guides locally rooted programming, artist advocacy, and community engagement to ensure the amphitheater reflects Alton’s culture while remaining financially responsible and sustainable. This role strengthens trust between the amphitheater and the community by elevating local voices, supporting creative partners, and aligning programming with community priorities.
Leads volunteer recruitment, coordination, and on‑site readiness, ensuring show‑day operations are staffed, set-up with intention, and supported by clear communication and preparation. Drawing on years of hands‑on venue experience and community trust, this role helps translate planning into smooth, successful event execution.
Lindsey Laird, Destination & Marketing Commissioner
Brings a destination‑focused lens to the Commission, connecting amphitheater initiatives to regional tourism strategy and broader storytelling efforts. This role helps expand visibility, strengthen partnerships, and position Alton as a place people choose — not just to visit once, but to return to.
Builds and sustains relationships with local organizations and businesses to ensure amphitheater activity delivers meaningful community impact. This role helps align programming, partnerships and investment with shared values, strengthening trust and extending benefits beyond the stage.

Description: The Alton Amphitheater Commission shall have the authority to supervise the management of the Alton Amphitheater facility and to coordinate the efforts of the various departments of the City of Alton to promote the utilization of the Amphitheater in a manner consistent with the original mission statement defining the purpose of the Amphitheater. The Alton Amphitheater Commission shall have the authority to enter into contracts, leases, licensing agreements, and other similar binding commitments on behalf of the City of Alton with regard to the maintenance and operation of the Alton Amphitheater, but no contract or commitment shall extend beyond the fiscal year in which such obligations are entered into without approval of the Alton City Council.
The Alton Amphitheater Commission shall account for all funds received and disbursed in the performance of its duties and responsibilities.
