Parks and Recreation Department Director, Lyndsey Younger, brought the National Fitness Campaign to Alton, IL to promote health and wellness throughout the community. With the help of key sponsorships and the Madison County Park Enhancement Program, the City of Alton was able to create a beautiful outdoor fitness facility along the riverfront. This innovative space provides free access to world-class exercise equipment, encouraging residents and visitors to stay active, healthy and connected.

Created for adults of all abilities aged 14+, the Fitness Court® Studio workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court® App which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience. The City of Alton is one of 20 Campaign Partners building a network of Fitness Courts across the state, with the help of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. You can also access workouts online through the official National Fitness Campaign website. You can access the fitness court during regular park hours at Riverfront Park.
Become a certified Fitness Court Trainer and earn ACE CECS! Fitness Court Trainers play a vital role in bringing the Fitness Court to life through community-focused programming. Trainers engage directly with the Fitness Court by leading workouts, clinics, and wellness events, and are encouraged to connect with local community leaders to explore and initiate fitness programming opportunities. Additionally, National Fitness Campaign will reach out to Trainers when activation campaigns or special events arise in their area that require experienced instructors to lead or support community engagement. You can apply for this here.
To see what programs will be coming to the fitness court, please check online for more information on the Alton Parks and Recreation Registration Website and the Alton Parks and Recreation Facebook Page.
