Description: The Alton Beautification and Clean City Committee (ABCCC) was created in 2004 by Mayor Don Sandidage. ABCCC is a group of citizen volunteers who are appointed by and report to the Mayor and City Council. The goal of the Committee is to enhance the overall visual appearance of the City and the quality of life in Alton.
The City of Alton has recognized that litter needs to be controlled as a quality of life issue and a factor in promoting economic and community development. Further, ABCCC works in strengthening neighborhoods through community development. The purpose of the Committee is to support citizens working together in their efforts to beautify and improve our neighborhoods.
